Referral Options

Whilst a referral from a medical practitioner is not mandatory for you to see a psychologist, there may be rebates for you if this is organised. 
 
If your physician (GP, Paediatrician or Paediatric Psychiatrist) assesses you to be eligible for a referral using a Mental Health Treatment Plan, you can then receive a Medicare rebate for up to 10 psychology consultations per calendar year.

You can also engage in counselling sessions as a private session, and some private health funds offer rebates depending on the individual cover.
